About Us

The Army, Navy & Air Force Veterans in Canada is Canada's oldest veterans' association. Also known as Anavets, the organisation traces its history back centuries ago when British and French regiments were sent to protect their colonies and on their return home, left members behind in Canada. These members banded together for fraternal and information purposes and eventually became The Army Veterans in Canada. The organisation was federally incorporated in 1917. Over the years other services were added, until today the membership includes merchant seamen and Canadian Vietnam veterans. Learn more about the Anavets in Canada at http://anavets.ca/.

The Anavets in Saskatoon were incorporated on December 10, 1920. Since then Unit 38 members have been active in the community. Members participate in the annual Remembrance Day service at SaskTel Centre. We also donate to many different charities such as Army Cadet Corps #2293 and #3071, Safety Net, Child Safety Alert, Hospital Activity Book, Camp Easter Seal, Fire Fighters Secret Santa, Native Veterans, Cancer Recovery Foundation, Community Drug Awareness, Blind Sports, Children's Safety Magazine, Canadian Council of the Deaf, Salvation Army, Shrine Circus, S.U.D.O., Shrine Circus, S.O.S. and many different police organisations. We also host an annual MS Christmas Supper and we are very involved in the Poppy Campaign.
